Dominical
is a well-known surfing paradise with surf-schools and a
well-established
surfing community. The beaches around are superb although bathing
is not suitable for young children because of rip-tides. There
are
also spectacular beaches with safer swimming to the south at Uvita and
North at Matapallo.
The mountains come down close to the Pacific and the views are spectacular. There is extensive secondary forest which is being developed to encourage ecotourism. You can take guided walks in the jungle, observe wild-life, ride horses, or go camping. For the adventurous there is swimming in lagoons or absailing down cliffs. Game-fishing can be arranged.
